If you’re not sure whether you’re paying attention or not, it’s a little easier to be distracted and ignore everything around.
To make this process a little more productive, it helps to practice noticing when you need to look for cues, so you can use those cues to help you focus on what you need, rather than the details around you.
Practice noticing when your attention is being diverted.
You’re probably already familiar with the concept of “looking” in the mirror.
It involves your eye tracking your head and the direction you’re looking at, and the more focused your attention, the less distracted you are.
But the problem is that it can actually make you feel more distracted, because you’re distracted from paying attention to what’s around you, and you’re actually not focusing on what’s happening to you.
To practice noticing this, sit in a comfortable chair and look at your reflection in the mirrors.
This will allow you to identify which parts of your face are focused on, and which parts are focused elsewhere.
You can also use your gaze to focus on the way your hands are moving, which could lead to you noticing more of your own body.
If it feels like you’re constantly trying to find the right spot, then you might have a tendency to focus too much on your hands and eyes.
Try to find out what’s the right balance between noticing what’s about to happen and focusing on your body and your attention to your surroundings.
