(AP) Cosmetology school students who don’t have a cosmetological license are required to take an exam, and students who have the license will need to retake it.
The Cosmetological Practice Exam was created in Wisconsin after an avalanche of complaints from parents and students in the state.
The exam was introduced in December and the first one taken this week was for cosmetologists.
There is a minimum of three cosmetolgists to qualify for the exam.
Wisconsin’s exam, which costs $65, will be the first to be offered statewide.
The state passed a law requiring the state exam to be administered online by a state-run provider.
A similar law is under consideration in Iowa.
The new exam is not mandatory, but it will be given to anyone who has the license.
